The title sounds ridiculous or autistic as it sounds, but the guide is made with serious intent so don't meme it. (PLS)

Okay here goes.

Note: Please follow the rules if you're actually RPing depression because some depressed actions is actually very difficult thing to do and leads to non-RP behavior most of the time.

Let's start with Depression, now what is actually Depression?

Depression

(Major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:

  • Feeling sad or having a depressed mood
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
  • Changes in appetite — weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
  • Loss of energy or increased fatigue
  • Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., hand-wringing or pacing) or slowed movements and speech (actions observable by others)
  • Feeling worthless or guilty
  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
Symptoms must last at least two weeks for a diagnosis of depression.

Also, medical conditions (e.g., thyroid problems, a brain tumor or vitamin deficiency) can mimic symptoms of depression so it is important to rule out general medical causes.

Depression affects an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) in any given year. And one in six people (16.6%) will experience depression at some time in their life. Depression can strike at any time, but on average, first appears during the late teens to mid-20s. Women are more likely than men to experience depression. Some studies show that one-third of women will experience a major depressive episode in their lifetime.

To give you an insight, roleplaying as depressed individual isn't that hard since it's a step by step process. Depression leads to suicide is the common knowledge for everyone who just sees someone in that state of losing the will to live. But is it?

I've seen a lot of people instantly just CK's themselves just to get away from certain things such as a cop intervention (which is a very stupid reason to commit suicide unless if they are giving you a life sentence or a death penalty), getting away with debts OOCly (another stupid reason to commit suicide just to get away with the money OOCly), or simply just to change your name instantly, thus CKing your character.

I know there are several reasons for a namechange such as make your character move out of SA, or any creative way to maintain your character development. I KNOW THAT MOST OF YOU WOULD JUST SAY "who nids char development anyway" like an oblivious fa... that y.. Nevermind.

Roleplaying as depressed is way different from suicidal. It affects the mind of the character you're roleplaying as and how you should act. But how exactly do you do that? how do I get to the point where my character is suicidal? it just doesn't happen that fast and needs much more development of your character for that. Or how do you spot someone in that state?

1. Your Character would often bring about considering talking about negative thoughts or sometimes suicide thoughts as a regular conversation.

  • Your character would lose his or her social skills eventually because lack of will or courage to go outside to socialize, Depressed individuals might often stay in their home as they self loath of why are they even alive or asks for their own purpose or any hopelessness related problem. They often ask what do they think about suicide, is it good or bad, should I do it or not, and so on.

2. Giving away prized possessions.

  • Not necessarily mean you have to give someone your property script wise like actually doing /sell business Player ID, Business ID, 1, it's more of a thing if someone just gives away their stuff or properties like just /addmanager or whatever. Either it's a stranger or someone close to your character. Now here's a thing. Since your character wouldn't need this stuff because they would not need it after they "pass" away, it's not really that hard to make a decision such as this, or suddenly writes down a Will of Testament all of the sudden.
3. Obtaining a weapon of any kinds.

  • Well having a gun is weird if you have no reason for having it. But for suicidal or depressed people, having a weapon is very common for them. How does this work or to spot if someone does this? well, consider it at this. "Why do they have a weapon or a gun if they don't actually use it such as for a sport, hunting, or practice shooting" or sometimes you wonder, "is this a real thing or just an Airsoft for sport? if so, then why do you have it?" kinds of questions that's going to be asked by a different character you were with.
4. Sleeping patterns.

  • Now depressed or suicidal people have different sleeping pattern. Most of them sleeps at day, most are night. It's random and common for those who have depression because they are thinking about suicide or anxiety that would lead to nothing. If you are married and your husband or wife ICly has this kind of behavior, ask them why or what's bothering in their mind.
5. Always low on energy.

  • Depressed people always have low energy because they have a very low motivation to actually do anything. If you are in depression, you can always do /walk 5 or let anybody know what your character looks like by doing an /ame or a /do to let anybody know from your surroundings on what your character's in.
6. Abusing drugs, alcohol, or food.

  • The thing with depressed people is, they tend to hold on to the things that leads them to slow death. Most fat people have low motivation to actually do anything because their feelings didn't accounted for or they can't express their emotions as it should be properly. Some are just fat because they like eating obviously, but it's different from depressed people. Same logic with drugs and alcohol problem.
7. Anxiety leads to lack of motivation.

  • Depressed or suicidal people doesn't go out that much or interact with people. Most of them drops out of school or work because they don't have a will to continue to do anything because of having low motivation. To work this out, you have to make several passive RPs in your house from now on to develop your character being depressed same as the thing I said on no. 1, but in a different manner this time because this is more specifically for your future.
8. Not participating on the activities they love.

  • If your character likes to stand in the Montgomery Park for 10 hours a day, then you wouldn't able to do it for that long because for them nothing really matters and their interest is diminished at this point.
9. Self harming.

  • Now we're getting in some "good stuff" here ain't it? self harming is very common for depressed people to coping with their self loathing and to see if they are ready to ease out the pain by committing suicide or ready to handle such pain. Now sounds alarming doesn't it? it's not that hard to spot someone with this problem if you have seen someone roleplaying self harming themselves, then you should contact your local FD or cops to help them out with their problem.
10. Risk takers.

  • Another benefit for RPing as depressed character. Your character would tend to make more risks. Look out for anyone who drives recklessly, but that doesn't mean you should non-RP drives around especially in the snow. The thing to RP about this is, your character would sky jump from a very high place or often forgetting their parachute or having a parachute and takes too long to open it, not stopping at stop signs or red lights is a great thing to RP driving recklessly and not by swerving around looking for an upcoming car to hit, and ignoring law forces if they attempt to stop you or giving you a warning/ticket.
11. Emotional Tantrum.

  • Depressed people randomly just shout for no reason at all, not because it's not RP, but because they are depressed and they need to let out some of their bottled up feelings even in a form of shout. Either it's about their past or things that happened to them. Just don't shout /s WALLLLLMART if your character is depressed please.
12. Body Language.

  • This is easy to identify. If your character is depressed, they don't often make any eye contacts or having a very sad face all the time. You can always do /me looks to the ground, trying not to make any eye contacts or /ame slouches his shoulder.
13. Mood Swings.

  • One of the hardest things to do. If your character is depressed, they sometimes let out a very happy impression to hide those feelings that they have. Sometimes they can be happy, sad, or angry for no reason. If that occurs, then any character that is close to them should pay more attention or find them some help.

Reason for depression.

You can't be depressed for no reason. That's just totally unrealistic or non-RP behavior. Here are the things which leads to a depression.

1. Abuse. It's either Physical (Getting beaten up constantly by your parents or someone), Sexual (Rape), or Emotional Abuse (Bullying).
2. Medications that you took.
3. Conflicts.
4. Death or a loss.
5. Genetics.
6. Major Events (Anxiety, Debts, etc.)
7. Other Personal Problems (Social Isolation, Family Outcast)
8. Serious Illnesses.
9. Substance Abuse.

This should teach girl RPers to stop being so fucking suicidial all the time because their boyfriend dumped them or they saw a park rat die.
Not being funny but there's different triggers to depression, so their "boyfriend dumping them" or "seeing a park rat die" could EASILY trigger it. I know you're trying to be funny and get some likes but your post defeats the whole point of this topic to be honest.

Nice topic, some questionable points, but nice idea.
