That was a very good read, and I find myself in both situations. Sometimes I do long RP, sometimes I do small RP, depends on the mood.
But that's only in my opinion - when you find yourself in a situation in which you have to RP very good, like the SASCO fitness test or every other faction, I would choose the long way to RP.
