We need to talk - RC:RP 2025

If the server moves towards a medium-heavy rp direction, I believe that every faction should also embrace that and not have their standards higher than the server recommends. People that will be oriented towards medium RP, they'll probably lose any kind of interest in the server because they probably won't be accepted in different cliques and so on. Goes for illegal and legal factions.
We can't force people to roleplay a certain way. If they want to go down the path of ultra realism, that's a choice that they made and nobody can tell them otherwise.

Generally speaking, server staff ought to enforce that the minimum required quality of roleplay (med-heavy in this case) is maintained, anything above that should not be regulated or discouraged in any way, considering that it regards groups and not the community as a whole - and of course, as long as it's not being forced upon an entity or group by other entities or groups.

IMO there can be some flexibility to the realism.

Also changes to the PD are very welcome - and I say this as a long time PD member. I mean my forum name literally came from the PD :D Would be awesome if I could rejoin and help reform the thing. The PD used to be too concerned about "winning" RP scenarios, which is dumb. Sometimes bad guys get away, and it should be fine.

True, but it's something that discourages people to play and at the end of the day we're looking to keep people around for more than just a month or two. It was one of the factors that drove people away, that and of course favoritism, as it runs in every roleplay community. If you don't behave a certain way with certain people you won't get anywhere, I'm not just speaking factions.

Eitherway it's something that needs to be looked at if we want a longer lifespan for the server.

factions that maintain a standard higher than what the server offers should be rewarded and shown appreciation like being at the fore of marketing, etc.. the server caters to a different population, sure.. but ideally we should encourage people to do their best and not settle for mediocrity just no more tough principle attitude from the upper echelons and we'll do grand

The issue is that we can't frown on people that wanna focus on medium RP and call it "mediocre" or "sub par" because the truth is some people simply don't find joy in getting too deep with a character or whatever, it's simply not fun. Making them feel underappreciated for not playing the game the way some people want is gonna drive them away eventually.

That's why I said we shouldn't do the tough principle attitude with anyone at all. if a group of people enjoy "good' roleplay, interact with the rest of the server, and mete out top tier roleplay in 2025 because it's their passion and they can? they should be commended in community newsletter and highlight thread, etc.. shown appreciation, and more trust.

the rewards and appreciation shouldn't be game changing or anything nor should it feels consequential, but we should add incentives to roleplay at a high calibre because you can draw players from different places cause of it

nobody will feel underappreciated if you've a capable FM balancing between the two with little to no favoritism. Heavy roleplay is still attractive and old-schoolers might want to relive this experience
