RPing the creation and use of a forged firearms license?

Please read this all before you respond, thanks.

So my character has a specialist military background, and I often incorporate using military and federal connections into some of my more imaginative RP (when it comes to some weapons and vehicle mods and so on.)

So say I RPed using these connections to get myself and certain people forged weapon licenses that, at a glance, would pass easily, but with further investigation, probably land a user in a lot of IC trouble (as the names of users wouldnt be on the list of legal holders), and RPed a detailed process of getting the forgeries done, would they be allowed on an OOC level?

As I said, creation would be RPed in a detailed and thought out manner, taking into consideration, any intricacies that would come with obtaining materials, and time it might take for printing to be completed.

As for using, I would expect to be fine in most cases where its merely a random encounter with a cop while wearing a weapon, flashing the forgery and carrying on, as opposed to an investigative process where my record would be checked and it would become apparent that the card I am carrying was not issued by the department handling firearms affairs as no license records would be available. (Not sure if the weapon license shows on the MDC or anyone curious would have to go to the forums to find out.)

And of course, all these things would be done with respect to the server and responsibility, after all, theres absolutely no point in trying to push OOC rules in an RP environment, if your serious about that RP, which I do believe I am.

So, with these things in mind, I ask again, is it OOCly allowed to RP forged weapons licenses?

Hi ericja,

Most of the time an officer will check on the MDC in order to see if you truly do have a firearms license for any weapons you carry. There isn't really any way which I can think of that you can say you truly have a genuine weapon license if the checks come back as false on the MDC (or through further investigation).

You can however, show them the license ICly if you're stopped by foot for instance and RP from that note, however there's a large possibility that they would actually radio in to ask if you're indeed a genuine license holder as they'd have no choice but to believe a RPed false weapon license unless they discover IC that it's indeed not real else that would quite possibly be metagaming. When pulled by a vehicle, they will ask for your licenses and do checks before they even start talking about why you was pulled over.

I'm not 100% sure on this one, but that's how I believe it'd be. You could certainly fake having one, but chances are you wouldn't get away with it with State Police on the server due to all the checks they do when you're stopped, on both foot and in a vehicle. If somebody else wishes to answer this too, feel free.

Indeed. Backing up what Ryan said, I myself am in the SASP as a Lieutenant - all checks we do will display whether or not you have a valid weapon license, and so on - you can still RP having a fake one, but I'm afraid there isn't really a way around a database check if the officer(s) is to do one. I'd personally have no objection if you were to RP a forged license, and go around 'flashing it in the street', but you just need to abide by RC:RP rules and make sure you're not Power-gaming, or anything like that.

In summary, I'd see no problems with it, but just consider the limitations of it.
