As some of you may know, some players have recently had their accounts compromised. We have spent a long time investigating, and thanks to some members of the community, we have found how these accounts were accessed, and have some advice for players on how to keep their accounts safe.

At no point have any RCRP databases been breached. We have discovered that players who have been compromised have been using passwords that they also used for other services which have previously been breached. Some of these include (this is not an exhaustive list):
  • Nexus Mods
  • NeoPets
  • Ashley Madison
  • Adobe
  • MPGH Forum

If you use your RCRP password for any other service, please change your RCRP password immediately, to a new, original, secure password. You may wish to use a password manager such as LastPass or KeePass. They can be helpful in ensuring you have a different password for every service you use (we take no responsibility for these services, other services are available).

If you wish to see if your email has been caught in any of these, you can check this website (though it doesn't have a full list): https://haveibeenpwned.com/

If you have any concerns, questions, or would like any more advice, please contact myself or another admin.
