So, say you get locked up for murder. But it was reduced to manslaughter. You serve for ten years. How are you supposed to roleplay aging if everyone around hasn't aged?
 
You shouldn't really care about anyone else aging, you should only focus on yourself. Make remarks about their appearance like "you haven't changed a bit". Just RP aging.

Hooowever, if you want to like, properly do it, just RP your char being in jail and change your name. You could bring it back anytime and tell everyone you were doing time inside, RP having aged and whatnot

Yeah, coming straight out of jail after 60 minutes might make people confused. If you just build a new character for a while and come back later, that might make it easier for people to understand you were jailed for ten years.
