I don't really experience gang life, but I believe they do not receive money whereas factions do.

Well to be honest, they don't get paid by the server in the payday, however, they usually end up with filled pockets. How? Basically gambling, selling narcotics and weaponry not to mention that each gang is unique in it's style as in like they get cash in various different ways using various different methods.
One of the main points of being in a gang is getting cash through illegal ways, however, I'd like to state that not each gang is after cash since as I said before each gang is unique in it's way.
