Also lol @ the people who think they can report this breach to authorities. You have no idea how this shit works at all. You'll find NO authority who will care about a small time server for a 12 y/o game being breached.

Breaking News: A new hacking group just breached a small time server's database, FBI dispatched a squad to address the issue immediately!

Lmao. Wake up.
A crime is a crime, and while it sure won't be a priority for the authorities you CAN always report it to them, unlike you are saying. Okay, they probably won't look into it thoroughly, but at least it'll show both the community and the 'hackers' in question that breaches like this are taken very seriously and will not be tolerated. If this gets reported the management did all they could, and any further actions will have to be taken by the police.
You as a staff member of this server should take a breach like this seriously in stead of making fun of the people that actually do.

Good luck and thanks for teaching me my job, I am a computer engineering student. I wish you the best of luck in finding an authority that will care about a small time server for a 12 y/o game.

Edit: Just so you know, I am also resigning from my position within the "staff". Just because I am a staff member doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. I am not saying I side with Evans on this, however, you guys shouldn't talk about things you have absolutely no idea of. World doesn't resolve around you unfortunately, last thing cops will care about is a small time server for a 12 y/o game.

You can absolutely have any opinion, as a staff member you are however expected to present it in a professional way in stead of making fun of people.
Of course the police won't care about it much if at all, but by looking into the possibilities the server management at least will have done anything in their power to prevent this in the future.

As I said, I am resigning from my position already so me being staff member doesn't change anything not to even mention this isn't a serious job, I am doing this willingly, not as a job hence why I won't be professional 24/7.

Reporting it to cops won't prevent anything, if internet laws were being enforced, everyone who download pirated games/music would have to be arrested. Internet laws are mainly there to protect massive corporations like Sony, noone will care about a small time server hence why it won't "prevent" anything. Advice? Use proper hashing, not fucking MD5 like someone suggested. That shit is years old and noone uses it anymore mainly because it's easy to find passwords hashed by MD5. Also, stop using stupid passwords like "abc123","wow567","1234567890" it's common sense. It's kind of cringey when people whine about their informations being leaked when the password they use is "abc123". Another advice is, use different passwords on websites that aren't important, i.e. websites for small time servers. I am not talking about RCRP but if you register to a random website and they don't use proper hashing, they can see your private information as is. "I use same password for every website!", "My password was abc123 and it got leaked what the fuck!!!!!!!", "I hate t0mB why isn't it hashed?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" these arguments are moronic, sorry to say and shows you have no knowledge in regards of computing at all.

Please enlighten me with the fact that I'll have a text document on my computer with every other password in it on my desktop that way.

Hm, let's think.

2 passwords, 1 for non-important websites, 1 for important websites. If I get hacked on a non-important website, my important passwords will still be safe and secure.

Oh look, there is also a "Remember me" function, how does that work again?!

Oh look, I can also create a password similar to my original one so it won't be a pain in the ass to remember them all!

Nope, let's not take any precautions and cry when I get hacked on a non-professional server. Also try not to use that thumbsup emoji when you didn't make a smart remark.

That's basically saying I should give my bank account number with pin to a company like Sony, isn't it?
Because everyone knows no fucktards & money wolves ever worked there.
