Founder of the Argentine Navy, William Brown is considered a national hero in Argentina, with more than 1,200 streets named after him.
That's more than enough for me to deny your request. You can also go for a common name, however in most of the times they'll lead to it being somebody known. Now, I'm not saying that there shouldn't be possibly anything on Google, however let it not be the founder of the Argentine navy, and your request to name change will more than likely get accepted.

That's just ridiculous. NOBODY here outside of Argentina is going to know that a man with the most English/American name out there founded the Argentine navy. You even had to google the man's name to figure out there was a story behind it, because you didn't know.
Of course I'm going to Google it lmao, how else would I know if the said name is famous or not?

...because he's famous?

????

I was just told by a helper, I quote: "If it comes up on google it you aint allowed it."

So, I want Thomas Leighton but

Thomas or Tom Leighton may refer to:
Thomas Leighton (fl.1485), MP for Shropshire (UK Parliament constituency)
Thomas Leighton (died 1600), MP for Shropshire
Thomas M. Leighton, American politician
Thomas Leighton (Governor), 16th century Governor of Guernsey and MP for Worcestershire

so not allowed.

Well, No offense to, but Aboale Obawade or something is allowed but a common American name isn't. I think that is not correct.

Thanks for the feedback,

I do agree that sometimes the name change denials are quite strict, which is should be. You may not have a celebrities name, this is true.

However everyone has their own opinion on what a celebrity is, I would normally say if they're the Mayor of Carlisle (sorry Beth) then it would be allowed. Other types would also be allowed:
  • Lower league football players
  • Reality TV stars (Like TOWIE, X Factor, etc - I mean, who the hell cares about them anyway?!)
  • Celebrities who have passed away a significant time ago and who are no longer relevant (exceptions are those who are still played on radio, tv, etc to this day like Michael Jackson, Elvis, Amy Winehouse.)
  • Former members of Government / Parliament / Congress or similar.

Helpers will use their discretion, but sometimes they make wrong judgements. Feel free to PM the helper any questions if you feel like this is a wrong decision and if that does not work then please forward it to me.

I encourage the helpers to talk to each other in /hc if it's not someone mega famous but you're unsure.

Interesting fact, there are 33,640 characters.. We might run out of names D:

If you have any more questions, let me know.
