Make sure that you back up "effects.fxp" and "effectsPC.txd" if you are using a mod and don't want it to be overwritten.

Have you tried doing this as well, because you mentioned having other effect mods which might interfere with this one.

Yeah, I've used the original effects, the ones provided too. Used modloader for it, tried overwriting my core files too. Nothing.
