Multiple misleading leftovers from the old rule 12 have been removed in order to avoid confusion. An exception has also been added, allowing chasing down fleeing players into a safezone - as long as you're already in an active situation with them. In such case you don't require permission from an administrator.

Rule 12
Committing crimes in supervised areas

If you want to commit a crime in a place that would normally be guarded or under supervision - you have to request permission from an administrator.

Places like government headquarters, banks and other public buildings are usually either guarded or have a live CCTV system with an operator, therefore the police would be immediately notified about any crimes that happen within those areas. As in most cases your crimes would be immediately reported by a live CCTV operator or reacted to by guards/police officers we have decided that if you want to commit a crime in one of the locations listed below you have to request permission from an administrator.

Exception: If you got into a situation with a player away from a safezone (for example you're chasing them for running over your friend) and they flee into a safezone - you are allowed to chase them down and engage further.

Places that fall under this rule:
  • Police Departments (Dillimore, Montgomery, Fort Carson, El Quebrados)
  • Townhalls (Palomino Creek, Fort Carson, Angel Pine)
  • Station 11 (RCFD headquarters)
  • Hospitals (Montgomery, Fort Carson, El Quebrados)
  • Palomino Creek Fishing Bay / Fishers Lagoon
  • Banks (all banks within Red, Bone and Flint County)
  • Elite Trucking Headquarters
  • Montgomery Park
  • Montgomery Pizza Stack
.
Purposefully raiding government headquarters (for example to break a friend out of jail, or to kidnap a police officer) also requires permission from an administrator.
PunishmentIf you fail to request permission before committing a crime in a public place, you may receive a punishment which could vary from an ajail to a date ban, depending on the severity. Raiding government headquarters without permission can result in a permanent ban.

Added Rule 40:

Rule 40
Coming in game to keep assets / Businesses should be actively used for roleplay purposes

Coming in-game for the sole reason of retaining your assets is strictly forbidden. Under this rule there will be guidelines set out of which you may have your asset removed by a member of Silver Trading if you are seen to be abusing the auto-wipe system to keep your asset.

Your asset may be wiped (without any compensation) if you do not meet the following criteria:
  • Have a play time of less than 120 minutes across a 30 day period.
  • Never open the following types of business to the public:
    • Clubs
    • Cafes
    • Bars
    • Other public facing businesses such as Hell's Gate Arena
  • Holding a faction business (loaned from faction management) for the sole purpose of gaining an increased paycheck.
  • Your business is constantly out of stock, and has to be restocked by administrators.
In the event that you do not meet the above, the administration team reserve the right to do one of the following:
  • Force you to auction the asset.
  • Remove the asset from your account with a monetary refund of 50% of the approximate market value.
  • Remove the asset without any monetary refund.

PunishmentThose who are found to be consistently breaching this rule may have their asset wiped from them without any notice or compensation.

Update rule 10. Requires permission from TommyB instead of Lead Admin.

Rule 10
No advertising other servers or creating services for RC:RP without proper permission

Red County Roleplay does not approve of services that were made for, but not by itself. The reliability of such services may not be sufficient and may harm the reputation of our server and community.

You may not create things like a Teamspeak servers, external sites etc unless you have TommyB's approval.

Minor adjustment to the rule regarding masks: “Fake beards” are no longer a valid obstruction of your face. You can’t /mask with only wearing a beard, claiming it’s fake. Doing so should warrant a warning and forced removal of /mask.

Reminder about rule 7: "Disrespecting any member of the community. - This includes directly or indirectly insulting a player, namecalling of any degree, the use of racial slurs and sectarian comments or any other form of discrimination." and "Provoking other community members/administrators."

If you're found provoking or insulting anyone from the community, no matter the medium, you could face punishment. Thinking you're protected because you're using another way of contacting them (outside of RCRP services) is nothing but a myth. If administration feels like your problems with one another stems from RCRP, then your insults will be seen as a breach of the rule stated above, even if you're not making your insults or threats on RCRP services.

Bomb roleplay is now allowed with administrative permission.
Note: terrorism roleplay is still not allowed under any circumstances.

Rule 2
No Deathmatching

You may not kill players without any- or with a weak reason.

Deathmatching is when you are killing / inflicting injuries upon a player for a reason that does not justify such extreme actions, or without a reason at all.
Murders/shootouts/brawls are to be be fully roleplayed.

Other offenses related to deathmatching that are strictly prohibited include, but are not limited to:

Non-RP brawling - Brawling without the use of a proper and detailed /me beforehand. It is not acceptable to start hitting a player with no roleplay whatsoever. Actions such as "/me rushes X" are not considered sufficient. Also wait with the brawl for at least 1-2 seconds after sending the message, to allow the other player to read it.

Revenge Killing
Killing, injuring or engaging with a player who has previously killed you. After your character gets killed - they no longer remember anything about their death, and you're not allowed to use your OOC knowledge about the death in any way ICly. Returning to the scene of your death for any reason (e.g, retrieving your vehicle) is not allowed and you should wait until the situation has come to an end before returning to the area. This includes doing these things with an alternative character.

Car-parking
Using a vehicle to park (not ram) on top of somebody with the intention to kill them.

Vandalism Roleplay
You must have a valid reason in order to damage or destroy someone's property such as a vehicle, house or business. The owner of the property you're damaging or destroying needs to be online at the time. Minor vandalism such as graffiti or scratching a car requires no administrative permission, however major vandalism such as burning down a car. In such case you are required to request an administrator via /assistance and provide a valid reason for such harsh actions, as well as screenshot proof of you creating molotov coctail / etc (if applicable).

Bomb Roleplay
Roleplaying obtaining a bomb and blowing up a property can be done only after obtaining permission from an administrator.
You will need to provide a very good reason for the bombing, describe how you're going to obtain the bomb and explain how/why such an act makes sense for your character. You will then have to roleplay obtaining the bomb and present screenshots of the roleplay (with timestamps) to an administrator before initating the bombing roleplay itself, and receive an additional greenlight based on that.
If possible, an admin should spectate the roleplay while it's happening. If not possible, the online admins should be at least made aware that greenlighted bomb roleplay will be happening (via /assistance).

Terrorism Roleplay
All terrorist related activities are strictly forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Fake bomb threats
  • Mass shootings for religious or ideological reasons
  • Blowing up buildings for religious or ideological reasons
  • Nerve agents
Under no circumstances will the administration team grant an exception to the above.

Disclaimer: Faction-related vandalism follows stricter rules, details on faction property attacks can be found in Rule 15 of the Faction Conflicts & Rules of Engagement.
.
PunishmentPunishments may vary depending on the severity and frequency of offenses that are committed by a player. Blatant Deathmatching can result in a permanent ban.

A second exception has been added to Rule 12.
From now on, administrative permission is not needed to commit a crime in a safezone if law enforcement is present in the area.

Exception 1: If you got into a situation with a player away from a safezone (for example you're chasing them for running over your friend) and they flee into a safezone - you are allowed to chase them down and engage further.

Exception 2: Administrative permission is not necessary if members of law enforcement are present within the safezone or close enough to witness the crime taking place.

Places that fall under this rule:
  • Police Departments (Dillimore, Montgomery, Fort Carson, El Quebrados)
  • Townhalls (Palomino Creek, Fort Carson, Angel Pine)
  • Station 11 (RCFD headquarters)
  • Hospitals (Montgomery, Fort Carson, El Quebrados)

  • Banks (all banks within Red, Bone and Flint County)
  • Elite Trucking Headquarters
  • Montgomery Park

From now on, only directly aiding a ban evader is considered against the rules (for example by giving them money, houses or vehicles, offering faster-than-usual hires or rank-ups in factions, or letting them access your account). Knowing about but not reporting a ban evader, although discouraged, is no longer against the rules.

Updated rule can be found below:
Rule 19
Evading a ban is forbidden

Aiding a ban evading player through any means is also strictly prohibited.

Players that are banned from the server should remain banned until they have successfully appealed the ban. Using any methods to play on the server while banned (or attempting to do so) is strictly forbidden.

Any players suspecting that another player may be ban evading are encouraged to report it to a member of the administration team. Directly aiding a ban evading player in regaining their position on the server (eg. by giving them assets, offering quick hires or rank-ups in factions or letting them use your account) is also against the rules and will be punished.

You might also be punished if you're found to be assisting someone in breaking the rules. This could be anything from sharing a bug with them to sharing your account to let them abuse your's faction commands.
PunishmentEvading a ban will result in a permanent ban with no possibility to be unbanned for the next year.
Knowingly aiding a ban evader will result in a permanent ban.

Also, wearing a heavy bulletproof vest in public is now against the rules, unless a proper reason can be provided.
Examples of such reasons:
  • Being about to commit a crime that justifies the usage of a heavy vest (eg. one that involves firearms)
  • Having recently committed such a crime
  • Being on-duty in a faction that requires you to wear a heavy vest.

Rule 38
You must portray believable roleplay at all times

Unless specified otherwise by an Administrator.

Portraying unrealistic, OOC, and trollish behavior is something we do not allow on our server unless specific permission is granted (during OOC admin events for example). New players are quickly introduced to bad habits and act like it's the standard, therefore other people's immersion and fun will mostly be ruined.

This includes, but not limited to:

  • Abusing the IC chat to OOCly troll another player.
  • Jumping around aimlessly with no RP involved.
  • Shouting random stuff for no reason.
  • Using animations like /pee, /wank, /dance for no reason.
  • Having OOC fun with a made-up IC justification for it.
  • Hitting and shooting each other for no reason other than OOC fun. > Not to be confused with DM.
  • Wearing a heavy bulletproof vest in public without a proper reason.

If your character has some kind of disability that will make it look like you're breaking this rule, always use enough /dos and /mes to explain the situation to those around you. If an admin still does not agree with your style of roleplay, you can be asked to forfeit the personality of your character.

Small rule update made to the ban evasion rule. The ban evasion "blacklist" length has been reduced to 3 months (previous 1 year). I felt that the 1 year period encouraged people to evade account bans more rather than sit out the account ban they already have. Most offenses that result in account bans can typically be successfully appealed within a month or two anyway, so the 1 year wait was seen as an extreme measure against what can ultimately be a non-issue with proper communication.

Many punishments have been altered a while ago as the punishment system on RC:RP was fairly outdated. Many of you have probably noticed the absence of temp bans and date bans, which have been replaced by admin jails and permanent bans - however, this was never reflected in the "Punishment" sections of these rules, so appropriate updates have now been made.

Additonally, two small rule changes were implemented:

CKing in order to avoid an active investigation from a law enforcement faction as a civillian or a member or any non-LEO faction is now disallowed.
Rule 11
USING OOC METHODS TO ESCAPE ROLEPLAY IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN

Escaping roleplay after it has been started is strictly forbidden, it ruins the roleplay for all parties involved.

You are not allowed to leave a roleplay situation without permission from an administrator or the other parties involved.

You may not:

  • /q to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • /logout to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • /afk to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Force a game crash to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Turn off your router (or disconnect from the internet in any way) to avoid a roleplay situation.
  • Ask an administrator to teleport you during a roleplay situation.
  • Character kill when you have an active court case against you.
  • Character kill as a law enforcement officer when actively being investigated by a law enforcement faction or its appropriate division.
  • Character kill to avoid an active investigation by a law enforcement faction.
  • /exitprison to avoid a roleplay situation within the prison.

You must not log out or avoid RP until 20 minutes after a RP scenario has finished, where the other parties may be interested in finding you or reporting you to the police. For example, if you are being chased by the police (or other players) you may not leave the server or /afk until the 20 minute timer is up, as it will be classified as avoiding roleplay. SASP or any other legal agency must inform the suspect(s) if they're surrounded. If a suspect has logged out after 20 minutes but are surrounded by a legal agency without notice, the suspect(s) will not be punished.

If you legitimately crash/disconnect during a roleplay situation you will usually be given around 5 minutes to come back online. If you don't come back in time you will receive a normal punishment for leaving to avoid roleplay - if you find yourself in such a situation you can try to get ahold of the banning admin (via Teamspeak or forum PMs) and explain the situation to them. If you're found to be saying the truth - your ban will be removed and you'll have to continue the roleplay scenario from the moment you left the game.

In the case where a player is character killed through no choice of their own during an active court case or while actively and knowingly being investigated by any law enforcement agency as a LEO, Administration will review the case and determine whether an exception should be made or not.

PunishmentBreaching this rule will result in an admin jail or a permanent ban if a repeated offense.

Roleplaying that fingerprints would not be found on bullet casings from a weapon you shot is now allowed only if you're able to present evidence of roleplaying wearing gloves or using a loaded magazine before you shot the weapon.
Rule 27
If an item is script wise in your possession, it is in your possession

If you are searched and are carrying any items that the searching player wishes to confiscate; you may -NOT- RP that the item is elsewhere.

If you've specifically roleplayed hiding your goods to make them harder to find (for example stuffing cocaine bags into your shoe or strapping a handgun under your car) - you are expected to provide screenshot proof of those actions to everyone who requests it. The screenshot must have time-stamps enabled. If no proof of hiding an item is given - it is up to the person conducting the search to believe you or not.

The game physics don't really allow for much concealment when it comes to dropping items such as weapons or drugs, so we consider it acceptable to roleplay hiding such items and keeping it on your character. Similar as in the paragraph above, you will need to take a screenshot of the roleplay and show it to whoever requests it. This can be done only during active roleplay scenarios such as gun/drug deals and similar.

You are allowed to hide your visibly holstered weapons inside clothing items such as backpacks, purses and duffle bags. You are NOT allowed to fully hide them inside your character's model.

If you wish to roleplay a non-scriptwise item being used and/or added to your properties and/or yourself, you must have screenshot evidence of doing so. Screenshot proof must have /timestamps enabled and /time or else they'll be considered invalid. Such examples would be tinted vehicle windows, a security pad within your home, cameras placed on your home exterior.

You may not claim that fingerprints would not be found on bullet casings from the weapon you shot, unless you've roleplayed wearing gloves while loading the weapon (or using a preloaded magazine) and you're able to prove it with screenshot evidence with /timestamps enabled.

PunishmentThe breach of this rule will result in the item(s) being removed from you and could lead to an admin jail, depending on the situation.
