Hi.
A lot of people think there’s a right way to roleplaying a guy in the mob. First things first, there is no right way.
Most rookies to this genre of roleplay are misguided and are put under the impression that perfection is key. That sentiment couldn’t be any more wrong.
You don’t need to follow every code, procedure and mob protocol to make a run in LCN roleplay. In fact, you’re better off paving your own path and going without it.
Remember this: Roleplay is improvisation. The only time you’ll need to do some research is when you’re making a new faction based out of another family, then in that case, sure, dig around; however, in general roleplay, everyone should avoid being some robotic mobster without a pint of flaws, constructed of your OOC knowledge. That kinda ruins the fun, now doesn’t it? Don’t be bland. Don’t worry about knowing the Omertà. All of that is outdated and actually is metagame agenda if you transfer it to your character’s knowledge. To properly roleplay LCN is ignoring the fact you even are. Learn as you go in-game. Pick up the structure from the information your character is told.
Don’t just know everything from the get-go or you’re not giving your character much wiggle room to grow. Start off as somebody just wanting to make money. Don’t look in retrospect at the progression. You can let that unfold as time passes.
The most important thing in LCN roleplay is building a person. You’re a person that is a mobster. Always hold in the account that he or she has fears, flaws, characteristics, and traits too. Throw that perfection bullshit out the
window, there’s more to it than that.
In mob roleplay, you make a character and let the rest happen. Every other guide teaches you how to be perfect. Nobody’s perfect.
