Hello, as you may know, fishing is part of the game. Nobody really wants to roleplay as a fisherman, but here's the guide on how you RP as a fisherman or just in it for the grind, whatever floats your boat. So, I suppose someone already made a guide about the things you need to know about fishing, which is this - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=152547 but what exactly is there to know while fishing? well, this topic explains everything about that.

Fishing comes with location. Now where exactly do you fish if you don't have a boat? Anywhere (because they updated it to be like that)

Here are some example on how you fish on Palomino Creek or perhaps anywhere (OOC)

If someone fish at the boat. I suggest you don't follow them at the boat while fishing. Find a suitable ground to stand on. Doesn't matter where, but there are some ledges on Palomino Creek that can stand on.

Why is this necessary? because when you're fishing on the boat, you'll have to swim your way up and jump. Now on some cases you'll get stuck in water due to the map's displacement regarding the Palomino Bay's sand area because it's a rocky theme beach. While standing on a ground near the Reefer fishing, you just simply run towards the bait store without worrying about swimming your way back & fourth and consume a lot of time by doing so.

Always talk with someone fishing with you at the fishing area.

Why? because we all know fishing can get boring. Why not talk to some people OOCly and discuss something cool. Or better yet place a boombox there and hit some music while fishing.

If you don't have a boat license, ask someone to drive and stand there. Tell him not to move the boat around or not to AFK.

Because if the boat driver is AFK, tendency that every passenger or cliff fishers are affected by it because sometimes if the driver or passenger is AFK, the boat usually shakes around.

Never. EVER FISH without a boat.

Obviously you don't. Do you really expect to get a whale or bigger fish there? no. You're stuck with Cods, Dog Fish, or Cat Fish which gives a less amount of money than fishing on the Public Reefer.

If you happen to get a whale on the Public Reefer, don't brag or wipe it on the other fisher's faces.

Be humble, you're lucky enough to catch your first whale. You don't have to brag about "OH I GOT A WHALE SUCKAS" and trash talks everyone while fishing. It'll lessen their fishing morale and instead do something to earn money while fishing. As someone who caught a whale, you have to encourage them that someday they'll catch a whale.

Don't rent a boat just to fish on other location.

Renting a boat cost 1k for Reefer and 1.5k for Tropic. And guess what? you can't store crates on them. Not that you wasted your money, you also wasted your precious time coming back to the docks again just to sell those fish.

Watch out for any pirates. They will steal your items or kill you instead.

Crime happens everywhere, even in the seas. So, if you don't want to get robbed, best bet is to find a suitable location for you to fish. Since there's a new rule that protects your crate from getting robbed, keep in mind that whatever you have can still be robbed, albeit; cash, phone, guns, or whatever you have in your possession. It's a really waste of time to get yourself into these kinds of roleplay especially if your goal is to grind.

Keep on hoping to get a whale.

Instead of being discouraged that you never caught a whale in your time playing on this server, keep hoping. Even if you're fishing anywhere without a boat (lol) or at the Public Reefer. You shouldn't give up as Whale gives a huge amount of money for you to decide your life decisions or maybe change it. There's 1 in 5000 chance you might get one.

For someone with a boat, here are some tips and tricks.

Find a suitable fishing location.

Yes, this is a must, or maybe you could ask some friends to fish with you privately and share the earnings.

For a small boat, you'll get a decent amount of money just an hour for fishing. Which means for the other larger sized boats as well.

Alright this is going to get a little complicated to apprehend.

Dinghy cost 200k at the boat dealership. It can store small crate that cost 2k. You get 20k from fishing per hour or less. I'd say around 18k+ while medium sized boat such as Speeder or Squalo can store a medium sized crate as well. And they are more expensive than the Reefer and Tropic that holds larger crates.

How do you earn 20k per hour when you're using a dinghy? isn't the normal rate for fishing in a dinghy is usually just 13k+? No. You're counting the money bags that you get too. I usually get around 10k moneybag per fishing in a dinghy for an hour. Imagine if you're fishing on a better boat.

If Dinghy can store a small crate and makes 20k per hour. A small fishing crate can hold 100 fishes and cost around 13k+ (not counting the moneybag part) so if you get a Medium Sized boat, it'll reach up to let's say.. 39k for a 5k crate that holds 300 fishes. Which is seemingly fair for that amount. Larger boats can carry up to 500 fishes. Adding it up from a small crate rate, which is 13k+ the earnings will be higher from any lower sized crates which means you earn 65k for a 10k crate.

The problem here is the exact time. If a Dinghy can get full for fishing in an hour, imagine on a bigger boat with a larger crate.

Tip here? Get a friend or hire someone to fish with you. You can both collect the earnings and if you both agree to give the money to the owner or whatever the reason is, agree to it so fishing will be faster. I don't recommend making another master account for this in case if you have both PC and a laptop because that's a bannable offense.

Stay away from Palomino Creek.

You can't fish at Palomino Creek on the cliff-side area. Because you can't. You just can't.

Find a more secluded place to fish. Don't show off at middle of the ocean showing off your boat or whatever because you'll have a risk on being pirated.

You'll end up getting robbed by the pirates.

Keep hoping for a whale.

Even if you have a boat, you're still fishing for that whale. Never stop believing to catch a whale. Never.

If you catch a whale. Put it inside the fishing crate.

Maybe there's a pirate roaming around your fishing ground after you caught a whale, it's safer to place the whale inside your crate to avoid losing it. Remember, robbers/pirates can rob you out of your possession, or even force you to sell that whale to the nearest bait shop to collect its earnings. Since you're protected by the rules, you can safely store the whale inside your crate.

If your fishing crate is full, keep on fishing for another 5 fishing slots.

Don't waste the chance on not to fish while your crate is full, there's always a chance for you to fish even if your crate is full. You can sell those afterwards for extra profit at the bait store.

RPing as a fisherman (IC)

There are a lot of factors if you want to fish as a fisherman. Example, your character wants to get away from the stressful city life and instead fish, or if your job revolves around in fishing, then that's how it goes.

What are the elements on RPing as a fisherman?

For starters, most fishermen are rednecks that lives near the water areas. There are swamp fishermen for example, but in most occasion, fishermen always fish in the open seas or in the rivers, depending on what they're going to catch. Not all fishermen has fishing as their main job. Most of which does it for a hobby or to relieve some stress as you commonly see in Tom & Jerry tropes where when the characters are stressed to their limit, they often run away and put on a sign to their door that says "GOIN' FISHIN'!" but let's not stray away from the main point here. A lot of people in the server doesn't RP having a proper attire when fishing. In fishing, you get to wear a vest. It's called the flying fish vest. because the vest will give more weight to your shoulder so you won't get pulled. Let's dive more into that.

Fishermen are NOT robots.

In RCRP, a lot of misconceptions on fishermen can be found. Most, which doesn't properly RP it and does it to just grind more cash for whatever parkrat reasons they have for the cash. Most of the time, fishermen spends their time fishing alone in a quiet tranquil lake to get some peace. After that, they usually gather to talk about their catch of the day or their fails during fishing. Fishing in general is used to grind more money, but for those who wants to RP as one finds it hard to find more people to RP with when it comes to this kind of stuff because all you can really do scriptwise is do /fish and hope to get a whale or fill your crate for hours of doing the same thing over and over again like a robot. If you want to RP as fisherman for a hobby, then best bet is to fish around the Flint lake for the tranquility you seek and passive RP, or convince a friend to come fish with you so you both can interact with each other.

Is there any requirements to RP as a fisherman?

All you need is a bait and a rod. If you really wish to RP as a fisherman, you need to buy a vest, turn it into a fishing vest if you are creative enough, a sunhat/fishing hat or a straw hat, and sunglasses. Most fishermen doesn't have a boat on their own and they rent out a boat to fish. Some uses a wooden boat enough to keep you afloat with a motorized engine or manual rowing (it applies if you live near to a riverside cabin) or if you RP as a commercial fishermen, you need to have a boat on your own and a yellow/orange raincoat to keep you dry.

As for commercial fishermen, you need a bigger boat such as the reefer, yellow/orange raincoat to avoid from getting wet, and your own crew. Now the reason why you

What are the purpose of each stuff fishermen uses?

The fisherman's vest, as you can commonly see in movies helps you by giving more weight to your shoulder so you won't get dragged off your boat. Most of which are equipped with your belongings to help you maintain the weight of your shoulders.

The things you should have inside your vest are;
  • bandages
  • sunscreen
  • forceps
  • extra baits (though most fishermen has their own toolbox full of baits)
  • clippers
  • flashlight
  • phone (some hobby fishermen don't bring their phone)
  • boat keys

Sunhat/Fishing hat or straw hat protects you from various weather that might come to you such as rain and sunlight. The bait and rods are an essential tool for fishermen along with a fish bucket to store their catch. Sometimes, they use an icebox to store the fish if they're out on a longer hours of fishing. Most fishermen needs boat to fish, if they feel like there's plenty of fish offshore than onshore and most fishermen fishes onshore, it's their preference after all.

As for commercial fishermen, the reason why they use the yellow/orange raincoat is to protect themselves from getting wet. As for the crew, you need a lot of manpower to haul in your catch, because not even the mechanism on the boat will help to carry the load you're going to haul in. A bigger boat is the most important part because it's going to be your transport to go into the deeper parts of the ocean to catch better fish.

What is the difference between hobby fishermen and commercial fishermen?

Hobby fishermen can be found in your local lake or swamp. They mostly does it for fun or to get a little bit of cash. Rednecks in particular does it as their living by going through swamps or fishing to get a bigger catch and sell it to the nearby bait shop, which the baitshop then buys it to sell it to the market.

Commercial fishermen however is different. These guys venture forth the deepest parts of the ocean to catch a much bigger and better fish such as tuna, shrimps, crabs, etc. it is considered as one of the most dangerous jobs in the world because you have to fight terrible weather conditions such as storm, fighting off huge waves that your boat can barely take, and fight off sea sickness and scurvy. So, if you wish to RP as a commercial fisherman, you need to have the proper requirements to do so. Here in belly-up fish industries, we also RP this kind of stuff but as of now, it's still in process.

There is an IC law for fishermen. What are these?

There's a law regarding fishermen needing to be equipped with life vests. Is it necessary?

Generally, it's stupid to wear a life vest while fishing but it is heavily advised. Why? Because life vests restricts your movement especially when you have to hard pull a certain fish, making you lose your balance and slip. That's why most fishermen should know how to swim and it's preferred that fishermen who doesn't know how to fish. They only need to wear it when they think they need it, that's why boats need to have life buoys or life vests stored.

There's this new law regarding fishermen not permitted to fish on the riverbanks or highly-protected/private places.

Yeah, there is a law when it comes to this. I advise you to fish on lakes. The safety of fishing on open places like lakes is a high risk for pirates or robbers to pry on you. There should be an act where commercial boats such as Tropic, Reefer. and Marquis are only allowed to be in the open seas for safety reasons. Smaller boats tend to tip over in huge waves, making it very unsafe to venture forth the deeper waters to catch better fish.

Law Enforcement Officers can revoke your license if you don't follow to the rules.

Even though you RP your character not following the rules, you are obliged to do so whether you like it or not. These law enforcers have the right to issue you a ticket or revoke your licenses and prevent you from having them in the future, stopping you from earning money if you are doing it for the sake of it.

General ideas for RP.

You can still RP outside of fishing in general, you are capable of socializing as a character and often of times talk about your catch of the day, or something outside of that part. You are not a robot that goes to fish just for the sake of grinding, you are there to RP it while fishing. If you can find several people RPing as fishermen, then God speed to you. Until then, I highly advice you to RP fishing properly. You can go out drink with your buddies, passive RP, or more. Fishermen are people too and they are capable of having their own emotions.

But let me ask a question, how much time are you going to spend fishing to get back that 200k of the Dinghy?

10 hours. Since 5 hours = 100k tops.

It gets deadly boring and lonely though.

The rate of bigger boats such as tropic, marquis, or reefer is 65k+ per fish. Sometimes it hits 70k depending on weigh. The moneybag rate is higher if you grind long enough per se 2 or more hours and you earn 20k/30k which earns 80k/90k tops - 10k for a large crate = around 80k or 70k. It still depends on your luck though.

Since I own a tropic now, it usually takes 3 - 5 hours to fill all the crate with fishes still depending on your fish luck.

I would update this topic about the rods or bait fee on each boats and required amount to get started on fishing soon.

Dude, you're supposed to fish for money to start up so you can get to RP. If a player's purpose in RCRP is to fish all the time to earn money he might as well head off right now.

I know a guy who still does this aside from me though. Jaquan Davis :wavebye:

Some tips has been updated due to the recent server updates regarding fishing. I'll be a Mathematical Picasso soon to estimate each baits and rods you need for each boat or crate and total expenses or tricks on how to avoid overspending on them.
