Pepper Spray

What is pepper spray?:
Pepper spray is made up of an active ingredient called OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) and other ingredients. OC spray is effective against all attackers even those who can sustain a certain amount of pain (Drug abusers, Alcohol abusers & Psychotics). This spray is also the best defence when dealing with a vicious animal.

The effects of pepper spray:
When pepper spray is applied around or in the eyes the person will experience bloodshot eyes, tearing, and overall discomfort for around forty to fifty minutes. A percentage of Capsaicin oil is added causing the spray to bond with the skin, and not easily be washed off, thus causing the spray to take immediate affect. The lining inside your nose and your throat will begin to swell almost immediately making it a lot harder for the individual to breathe. The person would also suffer from uncontrollable coughing.
For those with asthma or taking other drugs there is a risk of death.

Removal of pepper spray:
Due to pepper spray being oil based it is not easily washed off with water unless the water is applied regularly over a long period of time. There is no easy way to get rid of the pepper spray but using milk can take the burning away from your eyes, you can apply the milk with a spray bottle or by soaking a towel and placing it over your eyes.

What is a taser?:
A taser has an advantage over sprays and firearms because it works on any body part but OC spray is only useful if you can get them in the facial region. With a firearm you have to hit the leg or arm to neutralise the individual, if you hit the person in the stomach or chest it can end in the person dying or you could even miss and harm an innocent.

How does it work?:
Once fired it send two probes at around 100km/h. Law enforcement tasers use 20-30 Pulses Per Second which lasts for around 5 seconds. A cycle can be repeated by pulling the trigger. Wire length which connects probes to main unit is usually 3 to 4.5 meters long this obviously depends on the model of the taser. Law enforcement provided tasers can have a length of up to 10 meters. The electrodes are pointed to penetrate clothing and barbed to prevent removal once in place.

Things to remember when roleplaying with tasers:
A taser has to be recharged after every shot. After being hit you still have probes in you, which means, you will shake as long as the guy with the control unit wants. There is absolutely no way to resist the shock, even the biggest toughest guys will turn into little girls. Pulling out a probe is definitely not easy and it would cause a lot of pain to the individual as they are more like hooks than normal pins. This one is something that most players on RCRP need to read and that's if you get tased you will most definitely give up due to the fact that the officer with the taser can press the trigger again and the cycle will repeat causing you to be tased again.
