Real Blackjack Player's Guide
What is Blackjack?
Blackjack is a game of cards which is played by a certain number of players against a single dealer. The objective of the game is quite simple - be as close as possible or even equal to 21. The game is one of the most ( if not ) popular games in Vegas Casinos, and now I will make a brief tutorial of how you play it on RC:RP. I will try my best to explain every rule here in a such manner that you find it easy to understand and fun to play! With that being said, let us venture in the Blackjack! If you have any Suggestions for this game or if you still feel uncomfortable with the rules after reading this GUIDE, please DO let me know via Forum PMs or on my Discord. I will be more than happy to help! Without further due, let us begin!

Blackjack: How do we play?
Most of the people here are used with the /rolldice 6 way. This one however, we will use a /rolldice 10 and I will explain why. In a real game of Blackjack, the highest value is 10 ( excluding the Ace for now ), so regardless if you will receive a J, Q or a K, its value will be capped at 10. The game starts once you pay the dealer the amount you bet. The Dealer will place 3 cards on the table ( he will use /rolldice 10, 3 times ). First 2 cards will be the Player's cards, while the third one will be the Dealer's. He will also explain you this. Let us see in the example below:

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 7. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 8. *
The Dealer says: You have 12. Dealer has 8. Would you like to Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?

The Ace ( rolling a 1 ) in the first 3 cards
The Ace in the first 3 rolls has a value of both 11 and 1! This means that if a dice lands on 1, it will be the Ace, and it's value will be 11 or 1. If the second card for example is a 2, the total hand for the player will be 13 or 3. ( 11+2 or 1+2 ). I will explain the benefit of having an Ace further, in the Soft Hands.

Once the Dealer places the cards on the table, you will have a set of options: Hit, Stand, Double, Split ( in some cases ) and Surrender. Let us start with the first one.

Hit
This option will give you an additional card. You can Hit as many times as you want as long as the total cards counted won't go above 21. The Dealer will always tell you the total you have so you don't have to worry about it.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 4. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 2. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
The Dealer says: You have 6. Dealer has 5. Would you like to Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?
The Player says: Hit.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 7. *
The Dealer says: You have 13. Hit or Stand?

The Player can request as many cards as he wants, as long as he doesn't Bust. Bust means your total goes over 21, resulting in a LOSS. Once the player is happy with their sum ( or they don't want to risk more ), they can choose to Stand.

The Ace ( rolling a 1 ) in a Hit
Rolling an Ace / a 1 here will keep the value of 1 and not 11! So if your total is 12 for example and the Hit roll is a 1, it will be 13 in total.

Stand
Once you Stand, your turn is over and the next player or the Dealer's turn begins.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 2. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 2. *
The Dealer says: You have 7. Dealer has 2. Would you like to Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?
The Player says: Hit.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 6. *

The Dealer says: You have 13. Hit or Stand?
The Player says: Hit.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 4. *
The Dealer says: You have 17. Hit or Stand?
The Player says: Stand.
The Dealer says: Stand on 17. Dealer's turn, starting from 2.

Double
This option can only be done in the first call aka after you've received the first 2 cards. If you Hit in the first call, you cannot Double afterwards. A Double will require you to pay the Dealer your initial bet again and you will only receive one card and your turn is finished.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 8. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 3. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
The Dealer says: You have 11. Dealer has 5. Would you like to Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?
The Player says: Double.

* The Player hands some cash over to The Dealer. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 9. *

The Dealer says: You have 20. Dealer's turn begins from 5.

Split
This is actually one of the most tricky parts. You can Split a hand only if your first 2 cards have the same value. ( eg. 6-6 ). Splitting consists of paying the Dealer the same bet amount again, and he will Split your hand into 2 hands. You are now going to play 2 hands, one by one. I know it sounds a bit hard-to-learn, but this example will give you a better overview of it. This can only be done in the first call.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 8. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 8. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 4. *
The Dealer says: You have 16. Dealer has 5. Would you like to Hit, Stand, Double, Split or Surrender?
The Player says: Split.

* The Player hands some cash over to The Dealer. *
The Dealer says: Your 16 is now split into two hands, each of them having an 8.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
The Dealer says: First hand is 13.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 9. *
The Dealer says: Second hand is 17.

The Dealer says: We will start from the first hand, which is 13. Hit, Double or Stand?
The Player says: Hit.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 8. *
The Dealer says: 21! The second hand is 17. Hit, Double or Stand?

The Player says: Stand.
The Dealer says: You have 21-17. Dealer's turn starts from 4.
Now the Dealer's turn goes on...You can either win both hands, one of them or lose both.

Surrender
Pretty self-explanatory, you can Surrender your hand if you believe it's shit. You will be compensated with half bet back. This can only be done in the first call. If you choose to Hit, Stand, Double or Split, you cannot Surrender anymore. You've basically engaged in the game and ignored the option to opt out.

Natural Blackjack is better than 21!
As a player, if your first two cards are 10 & 1, considering the 1 is an Ace, congratulations! You've just got a Blackjack and you've automatically won! Blackjack pays 2:1, so you will receive back 3 times the amount you've bet. Let us see an example:

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 10. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 1. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
The Dealer says: And the player wins by Blackjack!!!

In the same time, the Dealer can also have a Blackjack! Even tho the Player manages to reach 21, if the Dealer gets a Blackjack, the Player will LOSE! The Dealer's 1 will be counted as 11 only on his first card ( which is the third roll in the whole game ) and his second card ( which is basically the first roll for him after everyone's turn is finished ). It might sound confusing, but the examples below will show you it's actually easy.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 10. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 10. *
The Dealer says: You have 15. Dealer has a 10. Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?

The Player says: Hit.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 6. *
The Dealer says: 21! Dealer's turn now, starting from 10.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 1. *
The Dealer says: The Dealer wins by Blackjack!

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 10. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 5. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 1. *
The Dealer says: You have 15. Dealer has 11 or 1. Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?
The Player says: Hit.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 6. *
The Dealer says: 21! Dealer's turn now, starting from 11 or 1.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 10. *
The Dealer says: The Dealer wins by Blackjack!

Soft Hands
A Soft Hand occurs when one of the Player or Dealer's first 2 cards is an Ace ( a 1 ). If this happens, the Ace is considered both 11 or 1, so it actually gives you an "extra life" if you Bust. Let's see an example below for a better understanding.

* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 1. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 3. *
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 4. *
The Dealer says: You have 14 or 4. Dealer has 4. Hit, Stand, Double or Surrender?
The Player says: Hit.
* The Dealer rolls a 10 sides dice, it lands on 9. *
(( Due to 14+9=23, which means a Bust, the Ace will be considered as 1, so we have 1+3+9=13 ))

The Dealer says: 13. Hit or Stand?

Bare in mind the Dealer also has access to the benefit of the Soft Hands if one of his first two cards is an 1, and the other one is different from 10.

Dealer Stands on 17 or over and Hits on 16 and under! Dealer also hits on Soft 17!
Keeping things more interesting, The Dealer always has to Hit every time his total is equal or less than 16. In the same time, he will have to Stand on any total equal or higher than 17. The Dealer will also hit on a Soft 17.

I tested this out, a great way. Something different from the old style and this made me want to play some Blackjack.

The problem with this is that the odds are nowhere near what they are in a real one-deck blackjack game.

In a real game of blackjack, your chance of drawing a 10 (or a card equal to 10) is 30 percent. Using your guide, it'd only be 10 percent. This is disadvantageous to both parties, but mainly the player. This sucks because in real life, Blackjack has the highest odds of a player winning.

Also small issue, but most blackjack tables pay-out 3:2, which no one on this server has ever (and probably will ever do).

This is a good guide, and is probably how we should play, but an actual fleshed out blackjack system would be a huge improvement to any variation of /rolldice

Calculating all the odds, the player still has a higher chance of winning and profiting considering that -
1.Dealer ALWAYS stands on or above 17, so if say you hit a 19 and the dealer gets 17, by the old system he could just pull a four, but now he can't.
2.Dealer MUST hit when it's 16 or below, creating the dealer a bigger chance to bust.
3.Blackjack pays 2:1 to player, but dealer getting blackjack doesn't really give the dealer anything besides a win.

The rolldice 10 is inaccurate because J Q K are cards on their own, even though they have a value of 10 they still count as a separate chance, so you would have 4 different chances of rolling a 10. The proper way would be /rolldice 13 and if you hit a 10, 11, 12 or 13 it would count as only 10.

I feel the use of 10 makes sense, I feel there are inconsistencies that can confuse and frustrate a player. People presently in game use 6 or 11. 11 doesn't make much sense to me. Plus it kinda nurfs the house UN-RP advtange that there aren't actual decks of cards.

Righteous.

Additionally (though this would make it more complex, perhaps needlessly), it could be played with a 14-sided die with rolls of 11-13 (representing the face cards) valued as 10, while a roll of 14 would be valued as either a 1 or a 10 (representing the ace).
